National Prescription Medication Take Back Day

The University Police Department is sponsoring a mobile version of the National Prescription Medication Take Back Day spearheaded by the Drug Enforcement Agency this Saturday April 27th.  All items discarded are anonymous and labels should be removed.   We are pleased to bring the mobile disposal box to our community at the following locations and times:

 

When & Where

  • 10 a.m. -12 p.m.: University Police Headquarters
  • 12 -2 p.m.: Blanton Hall dining areas
  • 2 - 4 p.m: Machuga Heights main desk area
  • 4 -6 p.m: Dinallo Heights main desk area  
All items discarded will be destroyed with no questions asked.  This program is designed to provide a safe place to discard old or unused prescriptions drugs that could be dangerous to others and harmful if introduced to the environment. Visit DEATakeBack.com for collection sites near you.

 

Permanent Medication Drop Box on Campus

In addition to participating in the national take back event, we are also pleased to announce that through our partnership with the Alcohol & Drug Abuse Prevention Team (ADAPT),  a permanent medication drop box is available at University Police Headquarters.  This new location will be able to accept medications 24 hours a day 365 days a year for proper disposal.  For a list and map of additional permanent medication disposal sites in Essex County click here.
