Richard Stallman comes to Oakland University
Richard Stallman will be giving a speech on free software movement and the importance of free software, at the invitation of the Oakland University's League of engineers and Computer
Scientists.
Richard Matthew Stallman (aka rms), is a world-renown software freedom activist and computer programmer. He campaigns for software to be distributed in a manner such that its users receive the freedoms to use, study, distribute and modify that software. Software that ensures these freedoms is termed free software. Stallman launched the GNU Project, founded the Free Software Foundation, developed the GNU Compiler Collection and GNU Emacs, and wrote the GNU General Public License. As of 2016, he has received fifteen honorary doctorates and professorships.
This event is open to anyone who is interested! It is free to attend, and an RSVP is not necessary.
