RISD LEADS - Artists Creating Community
Featuring - Shey Rivera, Artistic Director of AS220, and Jacob Nathan, Director of Live Arts at AS220
Providence is home to many native and international communities, from generations of growing families to students taking up temporary residence; our population is in constant flux and change. New communities also include those that seek to create new work to reflect their evolving identities and perspectives. Using AS220’s Live Arts’ Community Curators Program as a jumping off point, the group will discuss some of the tools and strategies we as artists can use to be stewards and leaders for a unified voice. Whether the technique used is resource sharing, event production, or a piece of art itself, we believe in the creative potential of all individuals, in their growth, and the value they contribute to improving the quality of life of the collective.
