RISD LEADS - Punk Entrepreneurship
Featuring Cayla Mackey, CEO of Unicorn Goods & Dave Pittman, Chief Creative Officer of Unicorn Goods and Master of Industrial Design candidate at RISD (Biographies)
“If you don’t like the way the world is, you change it. You have an obligation to change it.” - Marian Wright Edelman, American activist. Punk entrepreneurship is a lifestyle and approach to activism that uses business as a means to create positive change in the world. Like the punk movement itself, punk entrepreneurs have an anti-authoritarian outlook, seek to disrupt the status quo, possess a DIY ethic, are non-conformist, favor direct action, and value not selling out. This session will look at how to apply these values as an entrepreneur. Topics covered include how to lead and recruit an effective punk startup team and how to lead change as a punk entrepreneur. Learn from two serial entrepreneurs with more than a decade of experience in creative startups and social enterprise.
