The News Hub is Columbus State's centralized information "Hub" promoting student engagement at Columbus State. Each week, students can learn about featured activities on campus through the campus’ integrative tool, The Columbus State Hub (also known as OrgSync) which helps students explore resources and co-curricular activities. Students don’t just have to opportunity to attend college, but the chance to experience success through involvement.

Featured Involvement 

Stress Busters Social Event

Finals Week is approaching fast, which means tensions can be running high as you cram for exams or complete final projects. Get ahead of the stress by going to the Stress Busters event on Wednesday, December 9 from 11:00am-2:00pm in the Nestor Hall “Loud Lounge”. Take a break with games, food, free massages, and bubble wrap!

Featured Club/Program 

Cross Country Club

Many students like to exercise to help relieve stress. A great resource for those students is to join the Columbus State Cross Country Club. This club accepts everyone and caters to all fitness levels. The Cross Country Club runs on Fridays from 5:30pm-7:00pm, and has multiple morning runs during the week.

Featured Wellness 

Meditation Room

A quiet place to relieve stress is in the Meditation Room in Nestor Hall 028. The meditation room is open to everyone looking for a brief respite from the college grind. The room is available Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and by appointment for group use. It is non-sectarian and can be used by up to 25 people at a time.

DX Café Student Associate

Looking for some extra cash to use during the Holidays? Become a “DX Cafe Student Associate.” As a Café Student Associate, one must be customer service oriented and familiar with barista services!

Duties:

  • Uses point of sale system to accurately complete sales transactions including electronic register, cash handling, and credit/debit card transactions.
  • Prepares and handles food products, including hot and cold beverages, while adhering to health/safety standards and protocols.
  • Maintains cleanliness of Café.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of: basic sanitation and safety standards/procedures. Skill in: customer service; accuracy, attention to detail. Ability to: hold a consistent, reliable schedule; maintain confidentiality; follow procedures for food handling and preparation; maintain cleanliness of work area; operate a point of sale station.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Standard retail practices and procedures. Ability to interact effectively with customers and deliver excellent customer service. Work as a team in a busy retail environment. Minimum qualifications are a High School degree or GED.

IT Department

Having technology fails during finals week can be frustrating! The IT department in The Center for Technology and Learning 116 can help with technological emergencies pertaining to Columbus State. The IT department can help students navigate Cougarweb, Blackboard, the CSCC Wifi, and a student's CSCC email. Students can call from 7:30 a.m - 10:00 p.m. Monday- Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 1:00 p.m - 9:00 p.m. on Sundays, or stop in Monday- Friday from 7:30 am- 10:00pm, and Saturdays from 9 am- 4 pm.

Featured Support 

DX Bookstore

Housed across Cleveland Ave, from the main part of campus, is the DX Bookstore. The Bookstore provides many helpful resources for students including, textbooks, school supplies, spirit apparel, a convenience store, a coffee shop, and more. Students can even purchase basic academic necessities with financial aid, on select items (and if students qualify). The Bookstore is open Monday-Thursday from 8:00am-6:00pm, Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm, and closed on Saturday and Sunday.
