The sixth annual Candlelight Vigil is reigniting Appalachian’s flame for social justice and honoring the lost lives of LGBT youth due to suicide and bullying.
This somber celebration commemorates the legacy of those the LGBT community has lost through speakers, spiritual blessings, and storytelling.
This year’s speakers include:
— Todd Carter, local community member and founder of the High Country LGBTQIA Alliance
— Everette Nichols, former Appalachian student and interim assistant director in Multicultural Student Development
— Chancellor Sheri Everts!
Our event will also feature performers from two of Appalachian’s premiere a Capella groups, Ear Candy and Enharmonix.
Afterwards we will have a small reception in the Multicultural Center to decompress and talk over coffee and cookies.
Please join us October 27th at 7:30 pm on Sanford Mall to celebrate and honor those we have lost while looking forward to the changes we can make together as a community!
