SRES will be going to Starved Rock State Park on Saturday, January 28th for eagle watching as the bald eagles gather along the open stretches of the river. We will also be visiting Matthiessen State Park next door to Starved Rock to continue bird watching and hiking while enjoying the outdoors. There will be no cost for the trip and we will carpool on our own.

Students will be carpooling and paying for gas on their own for this event rather than using club funds. We will include participant list, a list of drivers and any necessary paperwork for drivers as soon as we have announced the official date to the club and have a list of attendees.

The Great American CleanUp is part of a nationwide effort to create a cleaner and safer environment and community. We will be working 10:00am - 2:00pm at Rock Cut State Park (meeting at the parking lot at the boat ramp beside the concession area). We work this location each year and pride ourselves on being able to clean over 40 miles of trail in addition to picnic areas and parking areas. Earth Day Celebration

SRES will host a presentation on birds of prey by Northern Illinois Raptor Rehab and Education to help kick off the Earth Day celebrations that will be hosted all around the region the following weekend. We are heading out Snowshoeing on 28 February- an afternoon of fun spent in nature! We will meet at 11:30 AM at RVC (parking in lot #3) and carpool to Rock Cut State Park. Snowshoes are available to rent at Rock Cut for $10 per hour. We will plan to return to RVC by 2:30PM.

 Snacks and drinks are always a good idea, and dress for the weather!

Rock Cut Clean Up

We are holding a Rock Cut Clean Up event at Rock Cut State Park. We will be picking up trash along the trails from 2:00pm until dark. Bring sturdy shoes, wear warm clothes, water, etc.  Trash bags and vests will be provided.  Grabbers will be given at a first come, first serve basis.
