The April Student Organization of the Month Award goes to The Bioethics Club!
The Bioethics Club is an organization devoted to raising awareness of Bioethical Issues both in the realm of clinic based practice and philosophical debate. The Bioethics Club excels at uniting different departments and majors within their quest of “raising awareness.” Many members stem from a vast array of majors including Philosophy, BMD, Spanish, and Communications majors.
On March 4, The University of South Alabama's Bioethics Club hosted their first ever, regional bowl competition. This has been the Bioethics Club biggest event since its formal inception in November, 2016. For the bowl, The University of Loyala in New Orleans and The University of Tampa traveled to USA’s campus to compete in three rounds of competition. Months of planning went into this inaugural event, which produced donations, sparked interest from surrounding schools and their competing teams, and allowed the members a chance to practice their debate skills. The Bioethics Cub will also be attending the National Bioethics Competition, in Utah, on April 8. In addition to hosting the debate, the Bioethics Club has also participated in food donations to the Salvation Army.
The Bioethics Club has enhanced the USA community, heightened academic involvement, and created campus involvement through successfully hosting the first ever Southeastern Regional Competition! This competition was a huge success and brought together various departments and students together. The Bioethics Club has already made a huge impact during their first year as an organization and the Office of Student Activities is proud to award them the title of Student Organization of the Month.
