November Student Organization of the Month - The Meditation & Mindfulness Club

The November Student Organization of the Month Award goes to The Meditation & Mindfulness Club!

The members of the Meditation and Mindfulness Club have held numerous events over this Fall semester designed to improve the overall wellness and health of students on campus. In September and October, the Meditation and Mindfulness Club hosted an outdoor meeting and “Flash Meditation” at the Bell Tower in order to reach a large number of the students and promote mental health awareness. In October, M&M hosted a public lecture at the Marx Library in which they invited clinical psychologists and meditators to educate the USA community about effective coping mechanisms and introductory meditation. Recently, the M&M Club distributed “Random Acts of Kindness” to students in the form of Halloween treat bags containing encouraging messages, candy, and other goodies. These goody bags were handed out to at the Library during Halloween as a way to brighten student’s days and lower stress. The Meditation and Mindfulness Club believes that creating a positive community on campus is vital to our students overall wellness. These members have exhibited their drive to help South students reach stillness and a clarity, which will have a positive impact in all other facets of life.

If you are interested in joining the Meditation and Mindfulness Club, their weekly fall meetings are held Tuesdays from 5-6PM in Student Center Room 211. During the spring, their weekly meetings will be held on Tuesdays from 5-6PM in Student Center Room 203. The Meditation and Mindfulness Club will be hosting a free dinner from Bangkok Thai and lecture titled “The Healing Power of Meditation” on December 1st in the Marx Library from 6:30-8:30. You can also find these organization members in the Student Center during Finals Frenzy, as they will be offering free Massages on December 6th from 6-9PM.
