Chocolate Benefit Banquet

The event kicks off with a Kids Against Hunger Cleveland executive member introducing the guests to KAH Cleveland and everything we do. After the speech, the audience gets to have a delicious Italian dinner (catered by La Trattoria, a family-owned, fine-dining restaurant in Little Italy). Speakeasy, an on-campus male acappella group will be performing during the dinner.

Food Waste & Why it Matters

The great SAGES class "Savor: The Ethics & Politics of Eating" will be holding a presentation on why and how we waste in the US while people go hungry. Students will be presenting on their various projects followed by a presentation from the Food Recovery Network.

We will be going over to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. We will do a variety of service projects such as helping repackage/sort items, make weekend food bags for elementary students, etc. Plus, you get to see some of how the Food Bank runs as it works to feed the Greater Cleveland community. We can only take 7 volunteers so sign up quickly! Volunteers with cars who are willing to drive are highly appreciated!

Wellness - Eating & Exercise in College

A dietitian from Bon Appetit will be talking about how to eat healthy in college.  Specficially, she will demonstrate the ways in which students can make easy, healthy snacks in the dining halls and at the dorms. In addition, we will have a speaker from the Athletics Department talk about exercise and how to get the most out of any exercise routine.

Students will be able to make healthy, delicious snacks from basic groceries at the event.

Movie Night - Fed Up Documentary

Depending on what issue the general body would like to focus on this semester, we will choose the appropriate documentary. Right now, we are planning on watching "Fed Up," a documentary on the sugar industry and its effects on our diet in the US. We'll have healthy snacks (fruits, biscuits, etc) to munch on through the movie.

Fundraising Tournament

KAH Cleveland will host a week-long fundraising tournament. Prior to the tournament, we will have various individuals teams sign up to help us fund-raise.

Throughout the fundraising tournament, we will have several fun events in which individuals/teams can participate and raise money. For example, we will have a 3-on-3 basketball tournament. We will also have a gaming tournament for all the gamers out there.

Saturday Day of Service - 30,000 Meal Packing Event

The Packing Event was hosted in collaboration with CCEL for the Saturday Day of Service.

A Packing Event is where volunteers help package the bulk ingredients of soy, rice, dehydrated vegetables, and vitamin powder into distributed meal bags. These meals are then donated to the Cleveland FoodBank which then distributes them to the soup kitchens, shelters, etc in the Greater Cleveland area. KAH Cleveland hosted a Packing Event for St. Paul Lutheran Church in Defiance, OH. Over 60 volunteers from the church came to help us pack the rice-soy casserole meals.

We packed 10,800 meals which were then donated to the Toledo Northwestern Food Bank.
