Vigil for Orlando
The Montclair State University LGBTQ Center is hosting a candlelight vigil to remember the lives lost and to stand with the survivors of the shooting in Orlando. This event will be held on Wednesday, June 15 at 7 p.m. in the Student Center Quad and is open to the University and the surrounding community. Come join us to show our solidarity and take a stand against violence and hate. Feel free to bring poems, songs, thoughts, and flowers.
Free parking is available in CarParc Diem, courtesy of Parking Services. Following the event, we will be gathering in the Student Center for refreshments.
Montclair State University students seeking support are encouraged to access the resources available at Counseling and Psychological Services, 973 655-5211. Faculty and staff seeking support may reach out to Dr. Lisa Westreich directly for assistance with referrals at firstname.lastname@example.org or 973 655-3122.
While the LGBTQ Center is not a counseling or crisis center, our space is open to you. In times like these, being with community can help us to draw strength, process, and heal. The LGBTQ Center is located in Student Center, Room 110, and is open Monday – Thursday this summer from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Center for Faith and Spirituality and the Women’s Center are open and available as well.
As we continue to send thoughts and prayers to the people in Orlando, let us also take the time to nurture our community and ourselves; we are stronger together.
