The CU Denver Student Government Association is Hiring! 

SGA is looking for enthusiastic students who are looking to be the voice of the student body and to have a significant impact on campus. We have 6 senator position available that are a commitment of 6-7 hours per week at a pay rate of $12.00/hr. The deadline for submissions will be 5pm on Friday, September 16th.

Legislation and Outreach

Legislation and Outreach focuses primarily on understanding student concerns and advocating for solutions to these concerns. While there are no specific qualifications for the position, what we value most is someone who thinks critically and is motivated to be a problem solver. We are looking for someone who is passionate about our students, willing to put in the commitment, time and effort to enhance the student experience at CU Denver. Some of the responsibilities of being a senator are attending senate meetings on Friday from 12:00 P.M- 2:00 P.M. as well as committee meetings. We encourage everyone to apply since being a student leader is a job where you can take action on the most pressing issues on campus while bringing your own unique perspective to the table.

Associate Justice

There is one open position for the 2016-2017 school year.

Job Description

~Aids the Chief Justice in providing interpretation on all matters relating to the Constitution and bylaws.

~Attends all committee and Senate meetings in conjunction with the Chief Justice to maintain consistent parliamentary procedure.

~Connects and acquires insight from the student body and SGA such that changes to the Constitution and bylaws are made effective and meaningful. 

~Works with the Chief Justice to ensure that all responsibilities of Judicial Council, as set forth in the bylaws and SGA constitution, are met. 

Events and Planning

The Events & Planning committee is dedicated to serving the student body by encouraging school spirit through events and activities. Such events include: Spirit Thursdays, Cultural Diversity Festival, Carnival de Lynx, and many more. We seek to collaborate with other offices, clubs, and organizations to provide the best experience for students. The committee members work together throughout the year to assure that the events are purposeful, fun, and engaging. 

College Council

The college council representative serves as an intermediary between Student Government and the Colleges administration. They act as an advocate for their college and are essential in making sure that SGA is providing everything the College and its respective students need for success. It’s a paid position, working about 14 hours every two weeks. The representative would be expected to attend Senate meetings every Friday from 12 to 2pm, as well as the College Council meeting which are 2-3pm.

Finance and Funding

Finance & Funding Senator Position

Nature of Work:

SGA is currently seeking a highly motivated, creative, and well-spoken Finance & Funding Senator for the 2016-2017 academic year.

This position consists of two main roles: senator of student body and member of the finance & funding committee.

As a student body senator, you will have the opportunity to represent the student body of CU Denver as a voting member of the SGA senate. You will be instrumental in making decisions on behalf of the student body relating to student fees, policy implementation, and more.

As a member of the Finance and Funding committee, you will review, critique, and decide the appropriateness of funding requests submitted by student organizations. You will also have the added responsibility of tracking SGA’s operating and funding budgets.

SGA senate meetings are held every Friday 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Finance and Funding meetings are held every Friday 2:10 PM to 4:30 PM (depending on volume of requests).

Requirements (not flexible)

  • Current CU Denver student
  • Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours and in good academic standing with respective college
  • Available every Friday from 12:00 PM to 4:30 PM

Preferred Requirements

  • Exceptional communication skills, specifically email correspondence and constructive feedback
  • Basic understanding and knowledge of Excel spreadsheets
  • Works well in team environment
