We are a growing organization that promotes the Filipino culture among students, while having fun at the same time. ANYONE can be a part of AFS, as long as you are willing to make new friends and have a great time. AFS is not only considered an organization, but a FAMILY.

Our general body meetings (GBMs) are held biweekly on Wednesdays in Fall and Spring. Check our our social media below for updates!

Description

We have a program that is comparable to other organizations' Big/Little program called the Ate/Kuya/Ading program. Alumni can attest that they have made long lasting friendships through AFS. Members come together for meetings, social activities, intramural sports, and Filipino community events. The members of AFS have also organized themselves to address the issues and concerns that affect them both on and off campus. AFS exists to encourage academic achievement to promote social interaction and to raise cultural, political, and community awareness among its members and also to the outside community. Our philanthropy is Gawad Kalinga, which is a non-profit organization that seeks to help the less fortunate in the Philippines. Each year, we host a state-wide talent show in which we bring in famous artists such as Travis Atreo, JR Aquino, and The Filharmonic to perform with the profits going towards Gawad Kalinga. We participate in the intramural fields, perform cultural and modern dances, and participate in school-wide functions. Everyone is welcome to our sports and dance teams; there is no experience necessary. Not only does AFS participate within USF, but also in the Tampa Bay community and across different universities in the southeast region. AFS is a member organization of the Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. This larger organization allows us to become more involved in the Filipino community of Tampa bay through volunteer opportunities and annual events. A few examples are Def Talent Jam, hosted by FSA at UF, and Philfest, the biggest Filipino celebration in Tampa.

Come join AFS and let us be your family and home away from home, here at USF!
