Del and Beth Kimbler Lecture Series
Dr. Pitu B. Mirchandani from Arizona State University
Topic: Design, Logistics, Management of Recharging Infrastructure for Electric Vehicles.
There is much reason to believe that many individuals and organizations will transform their vehicles to ones that utilize alternative fuels that are more sustainable. The talk was focused on the issues that must be addressed, primarily the issues related to the limited driving range of each BEV’s set of charged batteries and the possible detouring for battery charging or replacing. Topics of optimization and analysis of infrastructure layout design alternatives dealing with the routing of vehicles from origins to destinations, the optimal location-allocation model of battery-charging/swapping stations, and the recharging capacity and operations management of battery-charging/swapping infrastructure, were addressed in the presentation.
