The Student Organization Educational Program Of The Year Award


This award is given to a 2013-14 registered organization for an outstanding educational on-campus program.

Selection Criteria:

1) Participation of the organization’s members in the planning and execution of the program
2) Participation in the program by UTD students, staff, faculty, and/or community members
3) Positive educational impact on the entire UTD community (i.e. students, staff, faculty, programs, etc.)
4) Positive development for individual members of the organization

 

The Outstanding Student Organization Of The Year Award


This award is given to a 2013-14 registered organization that displays outstanding effort.

Selection Criteria:

1) Contribution to the overall University community (i.e. students, staff, faculty, programs, etc.)
2) Contribution to the City of Dallas community
3) Contribution to the development of its members
4) Demonstrated commitment to the organization’s purpose and the community served by the organization
5) Communication with related university departments (i.e. Program/Academic offices, SOC, etc.) and other student organizations

 

The Outstanding New Student Organization Of The Year Award


This award is given to a 2013-14 registered organization that displays outstanding effort, and was originally registered first time during the current academic year.

Selection Criteria:
1) Contribution to the overall University community (i.e. students, staff, faculty, programs, etc.)
2) Contribution to the City of Dallas community
3) Contribution to the development of its members
4) Demonstrated commitment to the organization’s purpose and the community served by the organization
5) Communication with related University departments (i.e. Student Life, Program/Academic offices, SOC, etc.) and other student organizations
6) Demonstrated appropriate and effective use of campus resources including, but not limited to, OrgSync, SOC, and others.
7) Demonstrated knowledge of and adherence to campus policies (UTD, SOF, and student organization) demonstrated knowledge of and adherence to campus policies (UTD, SOF, and student organization)

 

The Student Organization President Of The Year Award


This award is given to the President/Primary Officer of an organization registered during 2013-14 that displays outstanding organization leadership and involvement.

Selection Criteria:

1) Contribution to nominating student organization and its individual members
2) Contribution to the overall UTD community (i.e. students, staff, faculty, programs, etc.) and to the City of Dallas community
3) Extensive involvement in campus/other organization/community programs
4) Demonstrated commitment to the organization’s purpose and the community served by the organization
5) Relations with members and officers of the nominating student organizations

The Student Organization Officer Of The Year Award


This award is given to the Officer, other than President/Primary officer, of an organization registered during 2013-14 that displays outstanding organization leadership and involvement.

Selection Criteria:

1) Contribution to nominating student organization and its individual members
2) Contribution to the overall UTD community (i.e. students, staff, faculty, programs, etc.) and to the City of Dallas community
3) Extensive involvement in campus/other organization/community programs
4) Demonstrated commitment to the organization’s purpose and the community served by the organization
5) Relations with members and officers of the nominating student organization
 

The Outstanding Marketing Initiatives Award


This award is given to a student organization registered during 2013-14 that has utilized creative and effective marketing initiatives for their organization’s programs.

Selection Criteria:

1) Varied marketing strategies/campaigns for organization programs and events.
2) Use of appropriate and effective marketing strategies/campaigns that include marketing goals and objectives.
3) Creativity of marketing strategies/campaigns that are not in violation of University policies
 

 

The Student Organization "Unsung Hero" Award


This award recognizes a 2013-14 registered student organization member who has made significant contributions to his/her organization, but not within an officially recognized leadership capacity for that student organization.

Selection Criteria:

1) Contribution to nominating student organization and its individual members that is not expected as a part of the student’s membership or officer responsibilities
2) Demonstrated commitment to the organization’s purpose and the community served by the organization
3) Demonstration of going above and beyond expectations of membership/officer responsibilities
4) Demonstrated actions that are not related to the member’s official position within the organization (i.e. Treasurer assisting with duties not related to a treasurer’s job description while also completing regular officer duties)
 

The Comet Sorority/Fraternity Service Award


The Comet Sorority/Fraternity Service Award is presented annually to the undergraduate members of a registered UTD social, single gender, sorority, or fraternity, who have exhibited leadership and involvement in the areas of philanthropy and service to others.

Selection Criteria:


– Activities must have occurred between July 2013 and April 2014.
– The organization must have been registered with Student Organization Center during the 2013-14 academic year.
– Organization provides opportunities for members to learn about themselves and others.
– Organization gives members the opportunity to take the primary role in planning, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of service and philanthropic event(s).
– Organization promotes a sense of campus community and school spirit.
– Organization makes significant contributions to the co-curricular community on- and off-campus.
– Organization displays positive leadership behaviors.
– Organization demonstrates on-going campus involvements and responsibility for their campus commitments.
*** Documentation verifying the organization’s participation in those events will required with Orgsyc form that required a substantial amount of event-planning and time, and targeted a significant number of members of the community. ***

 


The Outstanding Community Service Award


This award is given to a 2013-14 registered organization for their outstanding service efforts.

*** Please note that nominations will be evaluated on “hands-on” service (as opposed to philanthropic fundraising that does not include service) ***

*** Social fraternities and sororities are encouraged to apply for the Comet Sorority/Fraternity Service Award and are therefore ineligible ***

 

Selection Criteria:
1) Demonstrated commitment to the organization’s purpose and the community served by the organization
2) Dedication and commitment to addressing the needs of the UTD campus and Dallas community
3) Opportunity for organization members to take a role in planning, implementation, promotion and evaluation of community service event(s)
4) Positive development for individual members of the organization
 

The Student Organization Executive Board Of The Year Award


This award is given to the Executive Board/Council of a student organization registered during 2013-14 that displays positive impact within their organization, as well as on the UTD community through their service to the organization.

 

Selection Criteria:


1) Contribution to nominating student organization and its individual members
2) Contribution to the UTD community (i.e. students, staff, faculty, programs, etc.) and to the Dallas community through their efforts of the executive board.
3) Demonstrated commitment to the organization’s purpose and the community served by the organization.
4) Relations with members, officers, and advisors (if applicable) of the nominating student organization.
5) Relations with officers and members of other student organizations, related campus departments, and (inter-) national/regional officers (if applicable).
 

 

The Collaborative Program Of The Year Award


This award is given to two or more organizations registered for 2013-14 academic year that have shown outstanding team effort in planning a program.
 

Selection Criteria:


1) Participation of all involved organizations’ members in the planning and execution of the program.
2) Participation in the program by UTD students, staff, faculty, and/or community members.
3) Achievement of all involved organizations’ goals through collaborative and cooperative efforts.
4) Positive development for individual members of all involved organizations.
5) Impact on and enhancement of the UTD community. (i.e. students, staff, faculty, programs, etc.)
6) Organizations involved must have purposes that are not substantially complementary of each other; there should be no more than 30% of membership overlap for any two involved organizations

 

The Outstanding Performance By A Student Organization Award


This award is given to a performance based organization registered during 2013-14 that displays outstanding commitment to providing enriching performances to the UTD community.

Selection Criteria:

1) Must be a performance based organization in the following clusters: Cultural, Arts & Expression, Recreation.
2) Must be able to upload video footage to the OrgSync Form
3) Performance must have taken place in the 2013-14 academic year
4) Contribution to the overall University community (i.e. students, staff, faculty, programs, etc.)
5) Contribution to the City of Dallas community
6) Contribution to the development of its members
7) Demonstrated commitment to the organization’s purpose and the community served by the organization
Important Information:

Video will be judged based on the following criteria:
- Style
- Creativity
- Synchronization (if applicable)
- Group Participation

Organization must upload video to the OrgSync Form.


The Outstanding Fundraising Program Of The Year Award


This award is given to an organization registered for the 2013-14 academic year that has sponsored the most original and successful fundraising program to benefit a charitable cause.

Selection Criteria:

1) Participation of organization‘s members in the planning and execution of the program.
2) Participation in the program by UTD students, staff, faculty, and/or community members.
3) Achievement of all involved organizations’ goals through collaborative and cooperative efforts.
4) Positive development for individual members of all involved organizations.
5) Impact on and enhancement of the UTD community. (i.e. students, staff, faculty, programs, etc.)
6) The amount of money was raised and its usage (Charity, donation, etc.).
The Outstanding Program of the Year Award
 

 

Selection Criteria:
1) Participation of organization‘s members in the planning and execution of the program.
2) Participation in the program by UTD students, staff, faculty, and/or community members.
3) Achievement of organization’s goals.
4) Positive development for individual members of organization.
5) Impact on and enhancement of the UTD community. (i.e. students, staff, faculty, programs, etc.)
 

The Outstanding Web Presence Of The Year Award


This award is given to an organization registered for 2013-14 academic year that has the most impressive web presence with a combination of a web page and uses of social media. Consider the web page originality, creativity (layout and graphics), usability/navigation, and up-to-date/pertinent information. Created by a student and not professionally maintained. Submitting a Facebook Fan Page or number of Twitter followers alone will not be accepted.

Selection Criteria:

1) Outstanding student organization website (creativity (layout and graphics), usability/navigation, and up-to-date/pertinent information etc.) Created by a student and not professionally maintained
2) The regular usage of social media (Number of members or followers, updated contents, etc.)
3) Regular usage of OrgSync webpage (updated information, numbers of members, etc.)
4) Positive development for individual members of organization.
5) Impact on and enhancement of the UTD community. (i.e. students, staff, faculty, programs, etc.)
The Student Organization Comet Pride Award

 

The Student Organization Comet Pride Award

This award is given to a 2013-14 registered organization that has outstanding participation and volunteering in Campus-wide Events.

Selection Criteria:

1) Participation of organization in a Campus-wide and Student Organization Center Event. (Homecoming, Org. Fair, basketball game, etc.)
2) Contribution and volunteer as an organization in a Campus-Wide event (Homecoming, Org. Fair, etc.)
3) Contribution to the development of its members
4) Demonstrated outstanding comet pride (Wearing UTD and organization T-shirts during events, the use of UTD goodies, etc.)
5) Communication with related University department (i.e. Student Life, Program/Academic offices, SOC, etc.) and other student organizations.
