MEVO Fresh Roots Farm Volunteering
Join the Civic and Community Engagement Center and Change Builders for an opportunity to work on MEVO's fresh roots farm.
MEVO (Mahwah Environmental Volunteers Organization, Inc.) is an environmental not-for-profit organization which carries out sustainability projects in Northern New Jersey. MEVO was founded in 2008 by then high school student Eric J. Fuchs-Stengel with the purpose of engaging community members and volunteers in projects that transform suburban communities to be environmentally sustainable.
Volunteers will help with tasks around the Fresh Roots Farm location, including weeding, digging, harvesting and more. Students are expected to wear durable clothes, such as long pants and closed toe shoes.
If you are taking your own transportation, it is required to fill out a transportation waiver, which can be obtained in the CCEC office (SC-213), and must be filled out 24 hrs in advance.
We encourage those who are driving to stay throughout MEVO's full length of service, which is 10am - 2:30pm, if able but it is not required. If completed, the service hours will be a total of 4.5 Hrs.
Please note that due to limited seating for transportation, it is required to make a $5 deposit at Roadrunner Central before your trip in order to reserve your spot for transportation. After the trip you are welcome to recollect your $5 deposit. However, if you can't attend the trip you must contact the CCEC at least 24 hours before the trip's departure. By contacting the CCEC you are welcome to recollect your deposit, but if you do not notify the CCEC your deposit will be forfeited.
