Welcome Incoming and Returning Students,
My name is Zequoria Boone, most of you may know me by Zee. I am a returning sophomore Psychology major here are at the University of Louisville. I would like to present myself to you as the 2018-2019 Shades of Movement (SOM) President and your Co-Captain.
One of the main goals Shades of Movement has this year is to increase the presence we have on campus and the local community. As you may know we have been absent on UofL's campus and we're just now returning this Spring of 2018. I am dedicated and confident in my abilities to meet this and all other goals the team makes, but, luckily, I will not have to do it alone. Our Executive Board this year includes Shawntez as the Head Captain, a Senior Art History major, Mariah Love as Vice President, a Senior Math major, Janee Forrest as Secretary, a Freshman Social Work major, Shante Williams as Treasurer, a Freshman Biology major, Asia Peeples as Director of Communication, a Communications major, and PAS minor, Bree Taylor as Director of Fashion, a Freshman Clinical Psychology major, and lastly, ReShawna Atkinson as Director of Community Engagement, a Junior Sports Administration major. Without these people we could not have brought a great organization back to life.
If you would like to stay updated on anything Shades of Movement will be doing this year, please feel free to connect with us here on OrgSync (Shades of Movement) or follow us on Instagram (so_movement). On behalf of SOM, I wish all of you a fun and productive school year!
President, Shades of Movement
Shades of Movement is a returning organization on campus and is built around dance. We believe that dance is a form of artistic expression. With this in mind we focus on using dance to help people both mentally and physically. Through dance, we strive to get people to not only relax and have fun, but to open up and communicate with everyone around them. This year, along with performances, we will be hosting a series of classes that are open to the public and are dealing with different styles of dance. We will also have a few events that will be focused on helping you to get to know Shades of Movement a little better. Lastly, we will be presenting a couple of platforms that draw awareness to meaningful social issues.
