Welcome Incoming and Returning Students,
My name is Kendra Malone. I am 19 years old and I am a sophomore Communication Art and Design (Graphic Design) major here are at the University of Louisville. I would like to present myself to you as the 2015-2016 Shades of Movement (SOM) President.
One of the main goals Shades of Movement has this year is to increase the presence we have on the campus and local community. I am dedicated and confident in my abilities to meet this and all other goals the team makes, but, luckily, I will not have to do it alone. Our Executive Board this year includes, the sophomore Education major, Kenya Johnson as Vice President, the sophomore ZeQuoria Boone as Secretary, the junior Women and Gender Studies major, Mycala Baker as Treasurer, the junior Exercise Science major, Cydni Sloan as the Public Relations chair and the sophomore Marketing major, Savannah Guerrero as our Community Outreach Chair.
If you would like to stay updated on anything Shades of Movement will be doing this year, please feel free to connect with us here on OrgSync (Shades of Movement) or follow us on Instagram and Twitter (uoflsom). On behalf of SOM, I wish all of you a fun and productive school year!
President, Shades of Movement
Shades of Movement is a relatively new organization on campus and is built around dance. We believe that dance is a form of artistic expression. With this in mind we focus on using dance to help people both mentally and physically. Through dance, we strive to get people to not only relax and have fun, but to open up and communicate with everyone around them. This year, along with performances, we will be hosting a series of classes that are open to the public and are dealing with different styles of dance. We will also have a few events that will be focused on helping you to get to know Shades of Movement a little better. Lastly, we will be presenting a couple of platforms that draw awareness to meaningful social issues.
