The UAB Office for Study Away's mission is to prepare our undergraduate students to be active and responsible global citizens through academically sound international and domestic, faculty-led, reciprocal and/or 3rd party educational exchange opportunities. Our vision is to be recognized as a quality provider of innovative and engaging educational exchange experiences in a variety of multicultural settings. We transform our students into catalysts for change in local, national and global arenas.

A great education knows no boundaries. Through UAB's Study Away program, you can venture to locales both familiar and exotic to take in the sights—and the insights—of different cultures, and return both a more active community member and engaged citizen of the world.

Are You Eligible?
To be eligible for study away you must meet the following requirements:
You must have at least Sophomore standing (30 semester hours completed)
You must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 (However, some programs may allow you to participate if you have a lower GPA. If this is the case, we will waive our minimum GPA requirement in favor of your program's GPA requirements.
You must meet with the Study Away Office for approval of your study away credits.

Your advisor will receive and email and must approve the registration or renewal before the Office of Student Life will approve it.
