Student Senate enacts revised SGA Bylaws

On April 8, outgoing Student Senate in it's last meeting approved re OCU-SGA Bylaws. They were approved by 9-1 vote and reached the necessary 2/3 vote. Bylaws were revised to support the new SGA Constitution that was approved by Student Body on February 25th. These Bylaws gives more flexibility to SGA officers by creating mandatory budget allocation, clarifies the terms of high officer compensation plan, establishes SGA Reserve Fund policy and simplifies allotments process. Martinez, Craft and Grover Captures SGA High Offices

On Wednesday at 5pm SGA election polls closed. Nearly 700 students participated in selection of 2014-2015 campus student leaders. Beatrize Martinez was re-elected as President of OCU-SGA, and she will serve a second consecutive term. Terrance Craft was elected as the Vice President of OCU-SGA, and he will head the Student Senate meetings. Allotments Application is OPEN!

SGA has simplified the Allotments request form this semester. It contains only 10 questions, however, two of them are essay type questions. Also, certain limitations are set on what allotments money can be spend on. The main purpose is ORG operational expenses such as promo materials and apparel. SGA Elections Application Process Underway

SGA Elections' candidate two-week filling period has started on March 10th at 8am and it will close on March 24th at noon. Three High Officer positions (President, VP of Student Senate and VP of Student Activities) and twenty-two Student Senate seats are being contested. SGA Elections will take place on April 1-2. Students are encouraged to apply and become representatives of the student voice. More info can be found here.

SGA Constitution Approved by 91% student vote

Over past two days, OCU students overwhelmingly approved the proposed OCU-SGA Constitution. 91% of voting students were in favor of the proposed Constitution. In total, five hundred fifty five (555) students participated in the referendum (20.8% of the student body). The turnout satisfied the 15% quorum requirement for a campus referendum. Student Senate Endorses Built-in Laundry Fee

On February 11, Student Senate passed the Resolution 010, which endorsed housing department's plan to replace current pay-per-use laundry model with unlimited use laundry paid by $50 per semester laundry fee built in housing charges. The resolution was passed unanimously, despite the raised concerns about small percentage of students who live on campus but go home to do their laundry. SGA Finalizes Its Constitution Draft

SGA's Student Senate after approving Senate District provisions have finalized the text of the Proposed OCU-SGA Constitution. Spring 14 Allotments Transfered to Organization Accounts

Spring 2014 Allotments have been transferred to banner accounts of organizations. Only the organizations, that have completed OrgSync/Involved registration (a process unrelated to SGA) are eligible to receive funds, according University regulations. SGA awarded $12,633 to 38 student organizations.The list of amounts awarded to each organization can be found here.

Student Senate Hosted Meeting At State Capitol

SGA invests heavily in OCU Mobile App

On January 21st, Student Senate approved Senate Resolution 008, which advocates for the development of OCU Mobile App. Senators also approved SGA budget which included $6,500 line item to cover half of the annual app development costs. 201 pizzas, 364 students - Pizza Feast 2013

On December 9, 2013 at midnight in the middle of the finals week 364 OCU students chose to take a break from studying and grab a pizza at the annual Pizza Fest. In total 201 large pizzas were eaten plus deserts.
