The Student Transition Enrichment Program (STEP) is a KCP grant-funded program that supports first generation and/or Pell Grant eligible transfer students in their transition from a 2-year or another 4-year institution to Central Michigan University. STEP is committed to working with students before, during, and after their transition, and its main goal is simply to help transfer students succeed at CMU.

What do we do?

  1. Promote knowledge of the transfer process, academic programs, and resources at CMU

  2. Build relationships between students, staff, and faculty at CMU and each of our partnering institutions

  3.  Develop academic skills, self-confidence, and career planning abilities for each student

What do we offer?

Programs and events that include: CMU Campus Visits, STEP Summer Conference, a First Year Experience (FYE) transfer course, community and tribal college visits, career exploration workshops, mentoring, tutoring, peer assisted learning (PALS), academic advising, and more!
