Follow us on Twiiter @ECUPirate_PALS !
Our mission to serve children of Greenville by being tutors and mentors and reading buddies that educate, invest in, and inspire future generations of leaders.
Our vision of this program is to increase the academic skills and performance of elementary students within Pitt County and the surrounding area.
Through community partnerships, we hope to address the educational issues and barriers faced by many low-income communities; we seek to give the support and guidance that could make a difference in a child’s life.
This volunteer opportunity provides opportunities for your development as well by connecting you with the Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement. There will be monthly meetings, workshops and opportunities to meet with you peers and community partners to address the issue of education and support youth in our community on their educational and personal journey.
Being a volunteer in this program is a semester long commitment. We are building meaningful relationship with the youth in our community and it is important that you are present and engaging.
If you are unable to make the time commitment but would still like to be involved, you can be mentor through Pirate Playtime. This is a student-led organization that goes to various after-school locations to play games and provide a safe place to play for children. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month to play with youth. For more information, click HERE! No Application Required!
