ECU Writes Questions: How does it work?
Sep 14, 2017 by Hannah Crouse
There have been a lot of questions about how the program works and when letters are due. Please see the following information about how ECU Writes will operate this year:
Once your application has been processed and approved, you will attend a brief orientation to the program offered on three different dates (TBA). Next you will be paired with your pen pal via email. Every other week you would come to the Old Cafeteria Complex to receive your pen pal’s letter and write your response using the craft supplies provided. Once you are paired, we will send you a schedule of dates when letters are due and when your pen pal’s letters will be available for you to write your response. For example, letters will be available for you to write your response every other Tuesday by 3 pm and will be due the following Monday by 5 pm. That gives you almost one week to write your letter, so you can come in at your own convenience!
It is very important that you commit to writing each letter by each due date. No one wants to disappoint a 3rd grader! We will send you reminders when letters arrive for you to pick up and the day letters are due, but it’s your responsibility to write your letter by the due date so your pen pal doesn’t go without a letter.
This year, we will be hosting submissions for Pen Pal of the Week who will be recognized on social media. From these submissions, we will also select a Pen Pal of the Month who will be recognized by social media and will receive a PRIZE for their commitment to their pen pal!
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to have some fun and make a difference. APPLY TODAY! Applications due tomorrow by 5 pm.
