Hello TLC students! It is a great day to be a Maverick! Welcome to the TLC on MavSYNC!
There are roughly 1000 TLCers at UNO! We are the largest learning community and we are here to promote learning and community! We see ourselves as a big family and we are always here to help each other out.
We are excited you've found this site, take a look around and know this is a one stop shop area for all things TLC. We also use MavSync to track program attendance and office visits. Please carry your MavCard with you and be willing to use the system to check in.
Students receiving the Susan T. Buffett Scholarship from the Susan T. Buffett Foundation and attending UNO, are automatically a member of the William H. Thompson Scholars Learning Community. We call the community TLC for short. William H. Thompson was the father of Susan T. Buffett and served as Professor of Psychology and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Omaha University, which became UNO. The Susan T. Buffet Foundation and the University of Nebraska, beginning in 2008, are collaborating to provide Thompson Scholars a unique educational experience aimed at enhancing their academic success: participation in the Thompson Learning Community (TLC). This participation will connect you with other Thompson Scholars, with the TLC faculty, and with UNO. TLC aims to make your transition to college and your entry into a major field of study as smooth and educationally rewarding as it can be. TLC will promote your academic success through common courses, academic workshops, and connections with faculty. Additionally, your transition will be supported through your relationship with other scholars, an upper-class UNO Mentor, social programming and other opportunities for you to connect with UNO.
