A Journey Through Black HAIRitage

Feb 12, 2015 by Caytes (CJ) Liley

Tonight (February 12) we begin the discussion surrounding the subject and content of the documentary film, "My Nappy Roots: A Journey Through Black Hair-itage" led by one of the film's makers, Regina Kimbell! We will look at the social coercive elements that have purposely established exclusionist beauty standards set to undermine the Black community's sense of aesthetic value, and how hair became a social location for expression and self-empowerment. Come be part of this important conversation at 6pm in UC116! #‎BlackHairitage
