You, your family, your friends, and all students are invited to PARTICIPATE in this year’s Festival of Lights which will highlight UCCS’s 50th Anniversary! All walkers will receive a 50th Anniversary T-shirt! In order to go you must email Brad Bayer (firstname.lastname@example.org).
The time commitment for the parade will be December 6th from 5:15 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The parade takes place in downtown Colorado Springs and runs along Tejon Street. UCCS’ float number is 21 in the parade line-up order. All those walking with the float are asked to meet promptly at 5:15 p.m. at the corner of East Monument and Tejon Streets (See the attached parade staging map and note where 21 is circled). The official parade start time is 5:50 p.m.
We will be providing a UCCS shuttle service from the UCCS campus to the parade and back to UCCS for the first 25 individuals that RSVP to me at email@example.com. The shuttle will pick up and drop off passengers in front of the University Center near the mountain lion statue. All other parade walkers are encouraged to carpool and to park towards the end of the parade route (the parade ends at the corner of Tejon and Vermijo Ave.) and then walk north to the UCCS float staging area at East Monument and Tejon Streets. This allows quicker access to vehicles at the conclusion of the parade.
This event is always enjoyable and historically pretty cold, so please dress warmly. We ordered the T-shirts in larger sizes, so we can all put them on over our winter coats. We look forward to seeing everyone at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday!
