Mandatory Training Session today for City Council!!
Oct 23, 2014 by Caytes (CJ) Liley
Hello UCCS! Your Student Government Association would like to formally invite all of you to take part in a new program called UCCS Lobbies. SGA and the Political Science Department are taking students to different levels of government in an effort to expose students to government officials, get students experienced and comfortable interacting with their government, and giving a voice to student and UCCS issues.
The inaugural trip for UCCS Lobbies will be to the Colorado Springs City Council. Take the opportunity to learn more about how the City works, why certain decisions are made, and get answers to the questions or problems you have always had, but never had an answer for!
There is a mandatory training session the day before the trip that must be attended if you want to go to City Council with Lobbies. It will be a light, quick meeting to teach the basics of lobbying and advocacy and give suggestions about things you can talk to Council about (and there will be FREE FOOD).
The Mandatory Training Session is October 23rd, 4:30pm-5:30pm in the Academic Office Building's Main Entrance Conference Room. (Free food will be provided)
The UCCS Lobbies' Day of Advocacy at City Hall will be October 24th, 3:30pm-5:00pm at City Hall, 107 N. Nevada Avenue
Limited carpooling is available, so please RSVP now on Mountain Lion Connect: https://orgsync.com/69883/events/885154/occurrences/1909946
