Mar 14, 2014 by Stephen Cucchiara

UCCS Students!!

As of 9:15am on Friday, March 14th, we have 9 spots left on the bus. Grab your seats while they are still available!! Also, for those of you planning on attending the game, here is a student message from the Office of Student Life and Leadership:

UCCS’ very own March Madness is currently underway with our Men’s Basketball Team playing Metro State in the NCAA Division II Tournament this Saturday, March 15 at 6:00 p.m. in Denver at Metro State. This is the first time our Men’s Basketball Team has made it to the tournament. We encourage all UCCS fans to be the team’s sixth man, providing them positive support and encouragement as they participate in the biggest game in the history of the UCCS men’s basketball program. Our men's basketball coach, Jeffrey Culver, knows how great all of our fans are:

“I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the excellent support you have provided to our UCCS Men's Basketball team this season - and especially these past two weeks.”-Jeff Culver UCCS Head Men's Basketball Coach

It is important to update our fans regarding the general NCAA and UCCS event expectations for Saturday’s game.

General Event
You are UCCS. Let’s all show UCCS pride and class by demonstrating the following:
Keep it positive
• Respecting those sitting around you in the stands, UCCS fellow students, staff & faculty, the bus drivers, game officials, event staff, the opposing team’s student-athletes, coaching staff, cheerleaders and fans
• For those riding fan buses – Keep the fan buses clean, and pick up all garbage on the bus at the end of the night before exiting the bus
• Ensuring the safety of self and others

Be aware of the following NCAA rules for regional tournament games:
Bags are not allowed into the gym (“small” personal items such as a purse are allowed)
• Open containers are not permitted into the gym (or on the bus)
• Noise makers of any kind (horns, drums, etc…) are not allowed
• No chanting of opposing team players’ names
• No rushing the court at any time. The UCCS basketball team will be penalized if this happens.

• Everyone riding the buses will receive their ticket to the game on the bus
• Those not riding the bus that have ordered pre-purchased tickets can pick the game tickets up at the UCCS “Will Call” table near the main ticketing office at the Auraria Events Center
• Everyone else will need to purchase a ticket from the Metro State Ticket Office located in the foyer of the Auraria Events Center. Be aware that tickets could sell out, so plan to arrive early.

Go Mountain Lions!
