Student Government Election Postponed Indefinitely

Mar 12, 2017 by Sabrina Wienholtz

Sent on Behalf of Vice Chancellor for Student Success and Enrollment Management, Sentwali Bakari

Due to the high volume of concerns filed with the Election Commission and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Success regarding the elections for the Student Government Association, I have decided to postpone the election indefinitely.  Campaign activities can continue within the guidelines of the Election Commission.

This decision is not a reflection on the Election Commission or any individual, but rather out of respect to carefully respond to the numerous concerns received and preserve the integrity of the election process.  We will notify you of the new election date as soon as possible.  Please direct any questions to the Vice Chancellor’s Office for Student Success or to the Office of Student Life and Leadership.

Our students deserve an election process that is ethical, fair, and one that is conducted with civility, and respect.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Sentwali Bakari, UCCS Chancellor for Student Success

My comment was deleted. I was just curious if it has ANYTHING to do with the fact that someone running for SGA President was in fact impeached from SGA Senate? If that is what these concerns are, just tell him he screwed the pooch, can't run, and let us vote on eligible candidates!

Ricky, I'm sorry that your comment was deleted. I'm not sure how that happened and am looking into it. We will post updated election dates as soon as they are available.
