The Rio Olympic Downtown Celebration will celebrate the Opening Ceremony of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games on Friday, August 5 from 5-10 p.m. in downtown Colorado Springs.  This celebration is a city-wide event that is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.  Ther will be live entertainment, interactive activities for kids and families and food! The theme is "Brazilian Carnival" so appropriate dress is encouraged, or support Team USA and wear your red, white and blue.

Activities include:

  • Live Broadcast of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games Opening Ceremony on a 27 ft screen

  • Capoeira (Brazilian Fight/Dance)

       USTA Colorado - Tennis
  • Denver Broncos Cheerleaders and Mascot, Superbowl Trophy
  • Live KOAA broadcast from the NBC Stage
  • Colorado Switchbacks
  • Hot Air Balloons
  • Food Vendors 
  • Torch Run and special guest Olympian to light the cauldron
