Community Service Opportunity!
Jun 1, 2016 by Clyde The Mountain Lion
Stephen, here from the Office of Student Activities! OSA does not plan any large-scale events over the summer, but we do coordinate a significant amount of volunteer opportunities. One volunteer opportunity that is in high demand is the Western Street Breakfast. This is an event that occurs downtown during the summer and looks for volunteers willing to dedicate some physical labor toward the production of this breakfast. We have had student organizations volunteer in the past and have not had a significant amount of folks come out this year.
The date for this year’s Western Street Breakfast is Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from 5:30am-9:00am. The event takes place in the morning but they are looking for volunteers for the evening prior to the actual event.
- -Set up, Midnight - 5am. I have lot of jobs that require some muscle - moving hay bales, barriers, etc. However, I also have lots of jobs for someone that can't lift hay bales as well!
- -5am - 9am. I have positions for people to sell and collect tokens, help keep the breakfast moving smoothly, helping with the Kid Corral, etc.
- -9am- Until Complete - We will be cleaning up at this point. Removing hay bales, barriers, signs, and cleaning excess hay from the street in preparation for the street sweepers, etc. Again, I will have jobs for both heavy lifters and "non-lifters".
As I mentioned earlier, they need as much help as possible. If interested in this, please e-mail me and let me know. If you could reach out to me by next Thursday, June 9th, that would be greatly appreciated (firstname.lastname@example.org). If you need more time, also let me know.
