Festival of Lights Parade
Nov 5, 2015 by Clyde The Mountain Lion
UCCS has been named the Grand Marshal for the 31st Annual Festival of Lights Parade taking place in downtown Colorado Springs along Tejon Street the evening of Saturday, December 5, 2015. This will mark UCCS’ final celebratory event in honor of our 50th year. Join the rest of the UCCS community as walkers in this historic event. An estimated 60,000 spectators will be on hand to watch the parade!
As the Grand Marshal, we will be the first entries in the parade, and the UCCS line-up is shaping up to be sensational! UCCS current students, future students, faculty, staff, and administration, including Chancellor Shockley-Zalabak, will march along with our award winning pep band, spirited float, and school mascot, Clyde. Our theme will be “UCCS Students of Today and Tomorrow” (That’s you!). Free red UCCS 50th Anniversary T-shirts and festive, seasonal swag will be given out to participants that walk in the parade.
This past spring, 300 members of the UCCS family marched in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, and great fun was had by all! Our goal is to have 400 – 500 UCCS Mountain Lions participate in the Festival of Lights Parade. Let’s complete this year of celebration together and share our school pride with the broader Colorado Springs Community. I hope you will join us!
