Make a Difference by Helping Provide Transportation to those with none!

What is Ways to Work?

Ways to Work is a national program and is provided to the South Florida community by Branches, a local non-profit organization.

Ways to Work assists in providing financial education for working families and affordable loans to purchase reliable used vehicles.

Simply put, it’s a way to help people meet their critical transportation needs.

How can you make a difference?

Dedicate up to 6 hours a month to volunteering with the Ways to Work Program, helping connect valuable resources to families in need of a reliable and affordable vehicle.

In the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach area, only 16% of jobs are reachable via public transportation within 90 minutes.  Yet, even though it’s clear that people need cars to be able to find and keep full-time jobs, personal vehicles can be out of reach for many low-to-moderate income households.  Without appropriate financial education, savings, and credit ratings, families often find themselves unable to secure a decent car at a sustainable cost.  As a financial empowerment loan program, Ways to Work can help these families access reliable transportation while working on their financial health.

Ways to Work has helped close to 35,000 of families across the nation access reliable transportation.

In South Florida specifically, 94% of clients improved their employment situation and nearly 50% received a promotion or pay increase.  In addition, the average borrower saw a credit score increase of almost 50 points.   All of this occurred at a time when wages fell nationally by 4.9%.  Just imagine the impact on our communities if more families were served!

Volunteer for Ways to Work and say YES to make a difference in YOUR community today.

Volunteer training is offered at no cost, and will start once you begin. All study materials will be provided, and both weekday and weekend hours will be available. Training will include an in-depth introduction to the Ways to Work program and services, as well as key elements in financial education.

Service Options

Ways to Work volunteers are passionate about the financial empowerment of our communities. No previous experience is required, and there are opportunities to serve in multiple roles.  Volunteers are expected to serve for 6 hours a month, with flexible schedules, and often from a variety of locations - from their home, at our headquarters, and even at outreach events throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

Can you dedicate 6 hours a month to Ways to Work?

We are currently in need of your assistance with Outreach Support:

Volunteers are essential to the growth and development of Ways to Work.  Helping spread the word about the program throughout South Florida, Outreach Volunteers will assist Ways to Work staff in reaching out to a wide range of organizations in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties introducing them to all of our financial empowerment services.  Specific responsibilities will be assigned in consideration of each volunteer’s skill set and interest, and activities may range from helping develop marketing strategies, to creating outreach materials and leading group presentations.

For more information or to sign-up as a volunteer, please contact Anna Gill by email at, or by phone at 786-507-3999 ext. 3105.
