Saturday, April 27th – Saturday, May 4th
West Chester's first annual Week of Service is approaching! Below you will find all of the scheduled service opportunities you can participate in. Complete the form, indiciating which service project you want to volunteer with and your site leader will be in touch!

Saturday, April 27th from 8:00am-12:00pm; Spring Clean-Up at The Hickman Site Leaders: Mauricio Martinez. Join together with members of the community to assist with some spring cleaning at The Hickman. Most of the annual Spring Clean-Up will take place outside.

Saturday, April 27th from 9:00am-12:00pm; Strides for SPARC A morning of FUN! Registration for the 5k begins at 8am with a race start time of 9am.Family Fun Day activities, raffles and resource fair will be from 9:30am-11:30am. For registration:

Saturday, April 27th Healthy Kids Day 2 - Shifts: 9:30am-12:30pm and 12pm-3pm. East Goshen Park Site Leaders: Kelsi Chazin & Devan Kowalek.Healthy Kids Day is an annual national YMCA event that focuses on health and children.  Come out and help with manning a moon bounce, controlling traffic, serving food, and assisting a clown!

Sunday, April 28th from 3:00pm – 5:00pm in Ehinger Gym (purple gym) Maggie Tripp Annual Day of Service in collaboration with the Alumni Association
Students and alumni will work together to complete service projects for the campus and community. Activities include: dog toy making for the SPCA, PB&J making for Safe Harbor, creating bookmarks for kids, etc... (If your organization would like to host a service activity for volunteers to participate in at a table in Ehinger gym, please fill out this orgsync form:

Monday, April 29th & Wednesday, May 1st from 10:00 – 12:00pm; Nail Painting with Seniors at the West Chester Senior Center Site Leaders: Theresa Pierantozzi. Volunteers will be painting nails and getting to know seniors who use the services of the WC Senior Center. This is a great opportunity to meet local community members and practice your nail painting abilities!

Tuesday and Friday from 3:30 - 4:15pm; ELIAN - Early Literacy is a Necessity Site Leaders: Jodi Roth, Melissa Christie, Skye Hisiro, Stephanie Walther. Volunteers will be reading with preschool and elementary aged children at the Care Center for Christ. If you love kids, this is a great volunteer activity for you! All volunteers must have clearances.

Tuesday, April 30 & Wednesday, May 1 from 7:30am – 9:45am; Serve Breakfast at the West Chester Senior Center Site Leades: Fran Cintorrino. The West Chester Senior Center has been enriching the lives of seniors in our community through friendship, activities, nourishment, and education since 1975. Volunteers will be helping to serve and make breakfast.

Tuesday, April 30th & Thursday, May 2nd from 11:30am to 1:30pm; Serve Lunch at the West Chester Senior Center Site Leaders: Shaina Mason.The West Chester Senior Center has been enriching the lives of seniors in our community through friendship, activities, nourishment, and education since 1975. Volunteers will be helping to serve and make breakfast.


Wednesday, May 1st in Sykes Common Grounds; WCU's Food Drive Volunteers will be sitting in Sykes Common Grounds all day to collect food donations. Sorting will begin around 5:30pm. The West Chester Food Cupboard will be coming to collect food at 7pm.If you can't drop your donations off that day, you can drop them off to the Office of Service Learning (basement of Killinger Hall) prior to May 1st.

Wednesday May 1st –  2pm-4pm; Volunteer at Home of the Sparrow Site Leader: Jeff Miller.Home of the Sparrow provides housing and supportive services to homeless and low-income women who want to improve their lives and become self-sufficient. Volunteers will be helping at the transitional homes with painting and spring cleaning.

Wednesday May 1st from 10:00 am - 11:30 am West Chester Area Day Care Center .Site leader: Skye Hisiro. We are looking for volunteers interested in reading with or to the children.

Friday, May 3rd from 11am-4 pm, CF Field Day; Site Leader: Ilana Berger. This is a field day/ carnival event to raise money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis. On this day there will be games set up all around campus where Individuals will compete for tickets eligible for prizes! We want this to be a campus wide collaborative event and are looking for interested organizations and individuals to volunteer. We need help running a Basketball tournament which will take place from 2 to 4 in the Purple Gym and mini-games in the quad. We also welcome you to get creative and host a mini-game in the quad by incorporating your sport! This could be the perfect service event for any Sports Club!

Saturday, May 4th from 11am – 2pm Campus/Community Wide Adopt-A-Block sponsored by OCCA. OCCA is putting together a giant CAMPUS WIDE Adopt-a-Block to take place on May 4th. There will be a kick off party at Sykes with soda and pizza. Then each organization will go out into the community to clean their respective block. Every person that participates will receive a T-Shirt to wear. This event will start at 11am. There is a registration form on OrgSync:

Saturday, May 4-5th in the Hollinger Field House; WCU Relay for Life. Relay for Life is a 24-hour fundraising walk where teams of people camp out around a track.  Food, games, entertainment, and tons of exciting activities are available throughout the 24-hours for all participants.  All of the money raised before and during the event by the Relay teams is donated to the American Cancer Society.
