Description

As the Student Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, our mission is to uphold the principles outlined by the ASLA: "to lead, educate, and participate in the careful stewardship, wise planning, and artful design of our cultural and natural environments."

The organization's mission is carried out by:
- Educating students about the profession of Landscape Architecture
- Providing opportunities to interact with professionals in the DC area
- Fostering a sense of community among students with interest in Landscape Architecture
- Establishing UMD as a recognized and respected source of professionals working as Landscape Architects

Mission Statement

Membership Requirements

Please list any specific criteria your organization uses to determine eligibility for membership. If your organization has selective membership, please describe the selection process.

Membership into the Student Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects is open to all students, undergraduate, and graduate level, registered at the University of Maryland. Membership is extended to all interested students of landscape architecture and students enrolled in related courses of study at its supporting educational institution.

The organization does not discriminate in violation with the University of Maryland's Code of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, in violation with the University's Human Relations Code, or in violation of University policies.

Those interested in membership to the organization may email sasla.umd@gmail.com and must attend one organization meeting. Active members are able to attend events and participate in fundraisers held by the organization.

The organization limits voting membership to currently registered undergraduate students.
