MLK Jr. Day of Service & Solidarity 2018: Site Leader Registration
Thank you for your interest in serving as a site leader for MLK Jr. Day of Service & Solidarity on Saturday, January 20th, 2018! Site leaders play an integral leadership role among their peers and serve as a key communicator between GVSU and the nonprofit partner.
We are continuing the process this semester to be more intentional on who is selected to be a Site Leader (SL) and the site they serve with. Those who seek to be a SL will have a brief in-person interview and indicate their preferred sites.
Deadline to apply is Monday, November 27, 2017.
**Applicants will be notified on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 of available interview times for the week of December 4-7, 2017.
Accepted Site leaders must attend site leader training on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 in Kirkhof Center Room 1104. If you cannot make this training please contact Rachael Zaborowski as soon as possible.
Day of Event Responsibilities
Site leaders are required to arrive at 8:15 am in the Cook-Dewitt Center located on the Allendale Campus (please provide your own transportation to campus). All participants will depart from the Allendale campus to the community partner that they will serve at (transportation to and from your nonprofit organization will be provided). Lunch will be provided by GVSU and picked up during check-in. Upon the conclusion of your service project, a group reflection experience will be led by the site leader (you) working with the service group and you will depart at 3pm to head back to the Allendale campus (arrival time back to campus will vary, most will return by 3:45pm).
* If you register as a site leader you do not need to register as a participant.
Students needing special accommodations to participate should email Rachael Zaborowski within one week of the event at firstname.lastname@example.org.
