The Soon-Another performs ColorPATCH

Peter Evans Workshop

Virtuoso trumpeter Peter Evans has established himself within the various domains of contemporary classical, experimental and improvised musics.  He has performed everywhere from Lincoln Center with the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) to the various small venues of the Brooklyn experimental music scene - and everything in between. On this concert, Mr. Evans will perform his own improvisations as well as new compositions by NYU students.

Pianist and improviser Andrew Smith, who has been actively performing in Boston and New York, is going to give a lecture on the process of piano improvisation in composition. He will especially talk about the collaboration with me and present several piano techniques that he developed for my pieces as well as others. In the concert, he will perform 6 pieces including three pieces of mine as well as his own work & other composers'.

Efrain Rozas - Open Recording Session Workshop

The workshop will be an open recording session of a new music piece by Efrain Rozas based on Afro-Caribbean genres. Efrain Rozas and Ismael Baiz on Drums, Alejandro Haaker on Drums and Ernesto Lucar on piano. Paul Howells will be the sound engineer. Both him and Efrain Rozas wil comment the techniques regarding recording these instruments in the context of Afro-Caribbean ensembles.

Ryan and Akiva's Concert

 Composer Ryan Carter and Dennis Sullivan will collaborate on a concert of new music for live electronics and percussion. Ryan will be making electronic sounds (synthesized in real time from code and manipulated live with an external controller), while Dennis improvises on electronically modified percussion instruments.
