The Feminist Society at NYU

Calling all gender equality advocates at NYU

Vision: The Feminist Society at NYU seeks to redefine current perceptions of Feminism and strives to promote gender equality by creating an environment that both provokes and fosters discussion. In order to achieve this, it collaborates with the NYU community, reaches out to local organizations, and connects with New York City as a whole.

History: The Feminist Society at NYU was founded in January, 2011 by three like-minded NYU freshman advocates seeking to find a space within the university where everyone could join in the intersectional discussion of feminism today. The Feminist Society at NYU is the first feminist organization at NYU to accept all students regardless of gender identity.

Description

The Feminist Society at NYU fosters discourse about feminisms, acknowledging their breadth and multiplicity. Through biweekly discussion groups, we seek to interrogate, celebrate and discover these feminisms and the intersections they punctuate. We aim to embrace difference, challenge convention, and reimagine what it means to be a feminist.
