Your Education: Don't Just Learn It, Live It!

This fall, participate in an unforgettable alternative break experience in the Mississippi Delta. Students will be engaged in a weekend long experience of real world applications of applied economics, civil engineering, community development, food systems, agriculture, and natural resources.

Experience how humanity is inextricably entwined with the environment and become immersed in blues culture.

Deadline to register for US citizens is Friday, OCT 11th at 5PM. Deadline for International Students is Friday, Sept. 20th by 5PM (ERDC needs passport/student VISA information from all international students)

Cost: $200 (covers food, lodging and transportation)

Tentative Itinerary: Alternative Fall Break 2014

Wednesday, October 22nd

7pm: Intro to Trip 4th Floor Moseley Hall

Friday, October 24th

5:30am: Meet at Mosely Hall to prepare for departure

6am: Leave for Vicksburg, MS

9am: Arrive in Vicksburg, MS

9:30am-11:30am: Tour of ERDC, Vicksburg, MS—Sara Leach

11:30am-12:30pm: Travel to Rolling Fork, MS

12:30-1:30pm: Lunch at The Onward Store in Rolling Fork, MS

1:30pm-2pm: Travel to Delta National Forest—Leslie Morgan

2pm-4:00pm: Delta National Forest

4:00-4:30pm: Travel to Belzoni

4:30pm-5:30pm: Tour of REACH Farm—Jeremy Jack/Robbie Kroger

5:30pm-6:20pm: Travel to Greenwood

6:20pm: Arrive at NGBC for lodging & unload

6:30pm: Dinner

Saturday, October 25th

7:00am-7:35am: Travel to Indianola, MS

7:35am-9:30am: Go to The Blue Biscuit for breakfast & Tour B.B. King Museum.

9:30am: Travel to Sunflower, MS

10am-12pm: Split Groups (USGS/LEAD)

12pm-1pm: Lunch with LEAD Center Students (catered)

1pm-3pm: Split Groups (USGS/LEAD)

3pm-4:30pm: Discussion with YMD—Dean Pennington

4:30-5:30pm: Travel to lodging & unload 

5:30-6:30pm: Shower/Freshen up

6:30pm-7pm: Travel to Ground Zero Blues Club

7pm: Eat dinner & enjoy evening at Ground Zero

9pm-9:30pm: Travel back to lodging

Sunday, October 26th

6:30am: Breakfast

7am: Travel to Quapaw put-in location

8am-1pm: Canoe & do service project.  Lunch on the River. Out location somewhere north of Tunica

2pm-3pm: Tunica RiverPark Museum

4pm: Travel back to Starkville
