Tunnel of Oppression
Tunnel of Oppression will take place on April 4th in the ballrooms on the second floor of the Colvard Student Union from 12pm -4pm. Through storytelling, Tunnel of Oppression's mission is to educate our campus community on the various forms of oppression that plague and effect diverse, and often marginalized, populations. Participants of this program will be led through four scenes where they will hear accounts of oppression and discrimination that students who hold certain identities experienced.
The four scenes will address oppression of LGBTQ+ (discussing sexual orientation and religion), Race (discussing discrimination and other forms of racism), Women (discussing sexual assault and violence against women), and International/ LatinX students (discussing immigration and current political climate).
Below is the link to volunteer for Tunnel of Oppression. The deadline to sign-up to volunteer is February 25th @ 11:59pm. We need volunteers to work the check-in table, be tour guides that will lead participants through the program, and actors to act out the four scenes. If chosen to be an actor, students will be asked to help in creating the scenes the that will be showcased. Once selected, we will send out additional information regarding meeting times and expectations on scene writing.
