Good afternoon!

We are so excited about this Saturday’s 7th Annual BIG EVENT. This looks like it will be the BIGGEST BIG EVENT yet and we are working as quickly to try and get all teams placed and accommodate everyone’s last minute requests. As of right now, we have placed almost everyone. If you have not received a site placement, please do not worry. We are working to place some of our largest and smallest groups, and some of our individual volunteers. If for some reason you do not receive a site assignment via email before 2 pm tomorrow, just come to check-in and we will give you a placement.

If you had a last minute schedule change, group change, site leader change, or any other change, please bring your request to check-in tomorrow. Please do not comment on this event, as everyone gets notifications about comments. What we are focusing on right now is getting teams placed so they can get organized and ready to go Saturday. If you have a last minute change, please bring it to check-in and we will work with you to make your change happen.

CHECK-IN IS TOMORROW!
-Volunteer check-in will be from 2pm-6pm at the Barnes & Noble patio on Friday, March 23 (note the location change). At check-in, you will receive your t-shirt, meal ticket, and (for students, faculty, staff) we will scan your ID to add the event to your OrgSync involvement record. If you are not an MSU student, faculty, or staff, you don’t need your ID! If you need help, directions, something else, we will be able to help you at check-in.

-If you are volunteering with children, please let us know at check-in (if you have not already) so we can place you at a family friendly volunteer site if we have not already.

Thank you for being patient with us!

Have a great afternoon.

Good evening volunteers,

Right now we hope that you have all your instructions for tomorrow! Here are some last minute reminders and tips to help you have a great BIG EVENT:

1.) Please make every effort to arrive at your service site on-time or even a few minutes early. If you have a community partner at your site, being late will make things difficult for them. Make sure you plan your route and know how long it will take to arrive at your service site before your shift starts.
2.) If you get lost or confused, please contact your site leader or your community partner first. If you cannot reach them, you can call us and we can try to help. The numbers to call BIG EVENT staff are 662-648-9032 and 662-420-0291.
3.) Be patient. Not everything will go as planned. Some sites will end up with too many volunteers, while others may not have enough. It happens no matter how hard we try to get our numbers right. If there are too many volunteers at your site, try to be as helpful as possible. Volunteers can be difficult for a community partner to manage, especially if there are too many. Find a project, something that looks like you could help with (wash floors, sweep, clean bathrooms, pick up trash, reorganize cabinets, etc.) Suggest to your community partner other ways you can be helpful.
4.) Remember that volunteering is about serving others and giving back. Please try to keep a positive attitude throughout your service experience. If you are not thrilled with your site placement, know that someone thinks what your doing is important and they are grateful that you are taking the time to help.
5.) Lastly, please take photos and videos and SHARE them with us. Show us your #ServiceatState by using hashtag #MSUBIGEVENT2018 and tag @MaroonVolunteer (Twitter) and @MaroonVolunteerCenter (Instagram and facebook) in photo and video posts on social media. You can also tag @msstate or @MSStateStudents.

Thank you for your #ServiceatState
