Make a Difference Day Yam Jam Cancellation

Oct 15, 2014 by Roderick Holmes

Due to the rain that came in earlier this week that made field conditions too wet for the farmers to do any prior harvesting in Bellefontaine, MS, the Make a Difference Day Yam Jam on Saturday, October 18th has been cancelled.

On behalf of the Maroon Volunteer Center and Volunteer Starkville, our apologies for any inconvenience.

HOWEVER, volunteers that still desire to serve for our President's Interfaith Service Campus Challenge and Make a Difference Day have the opportunity to volunteer at one of our 3 alternate volunteer sites within the Starkville area! Check out our alternate President's Interfaith Service Campus Challenge/Make a Difference Day volunteer service sites below:

Sand Creek Chapel Food Distribution

Volunteers are needed to assist with food distribution and packing at Sand Creek Chapel M.B. Church. Volunteers can park beside the church and enter through the back or side door to check-in.

Directions: Take North Montgomery past HWY 25/82 until it becomes Rockhill Rd. Follow Rockhill Rd. Past the landfill and past Waldrop Rd. Sand Creek will be about 3 miles up on your right.

Odd Fellows Cemetery Cleanup

After learning the history of the Odd Fellows Cemetery on a short tour from members of the Starkville Cemetery Association, volunteers will then assist in beautifying the grounds with other community and campus volunteers.

The 2014 MSU CERT Preparathon

Volunteers are needed to assist with set up and tear down, awards presentation, water stations, and standing at intersections on the running course for the 2014 MSU CERT Preparathon Half Marathon/5K/Family Fun Run and Emergency Preparedness Fair.

Volunteers are invited to come back to MSU for lunch and an informal interfaith discussion in 407 Moseley Hall.

*Thanks for your desire to serve as a Maroon Volunteer at one of our alternate 3 President's Interfaith Service Campus Challenge/Make a Difference Day volunteer service sites!*
