Transitions 2014: New Student Orientation

Nov 13, 2013 by Registered Student Organizations

Greetings All,

As some of you may know, one of the biggest traditions of Grand Valley is Transitions. This exciting program helps students meet new people, get acclimated to campus, and prepare for a successful university experience.

Transitions planning is already in the making and we need you to help us communicate to the new incoming freshmen the experiences you have had here at Grand Valley. The application to be a leader for Transitions 2014 is still available! If you want to be a Leader, submit your application today. The Leader application will close November 25th, 2013 at 5 PM.

TO APPLY:  Fill out the form "Transitions Leader 2014 Application"

About the Program

The Transitions program:

  • Prepares each student for the academic rigor of the University.
  • Assists students in meeting people and making connections both in and out of the classroom.
  • Provides students with an overall knowledge of the resources and services that Grand Valley State University has to offer.

Each new student (commuter and residential) will be assigned to a small group of students, led by a Transitions Leader - an experienced Grand Valley State University student that will guide the group through various programs and activities. The Transitions schedule is designed to share valuable information with students as well as allow for free time to get settled and ready for classes to begin.

Some core values of a Transitions Leader:

Transitions Leader - an experienced Grand Valley State University student that will guide the group through various programs and activities.

Transitions Leader- demonstrate the appreciation of diversity in culture, ethnicity, ability, gender, economic class, religion, weight, age and sexual orientation through my language and actions.

Transitions Leader- uphold the mission, vision and values of Grand Valley State University by implementing the program as it was developed and to offer an objective experience to new students

Transitions Leader- speak positively about Grand Valley and its students, faculty and staff as well as other colleges/universities

This is a great leadership opportunity, allowing you to give back to the Grand Valley community and positively influence the lives of new students!

We look forward to receiving your applications and as always if you have any questions or concerns please contact us!

Sincerely,

Shatoya Wilson
