Idler's Rest | Civic Engagement Week (CCE Transportation Provided)
Organizational Information: Our mission is to conserve the open space, scenery, wildlife habitat, and water quality of the Palouse region for the benefit of current and future generations.
Students will be working at Idler's Rest Nature Preserve. Currently, there is a large wooden trail register and map located along the Cedar Trail. Unfortunately, it is situated in a spot that does not see much traffic, and most visitors are not aware that it even exists! Students will help us relocate the trail register to a more central location in the parking lot. The project will consist of potentially dissembling the kiosk, digging out the anchor posts, moving the kiosk from it's location in the cedar grove to the preserve parking lot on the opposite side of Idle'rs Rest Road, and re-installing the kiosk in its new location.
Days/Times: Transportation will be provided. Please meet at CUB L45 at 8:30 AM to meet with your group. We plan to return to campus around 11:30 AM.
Requirements: Requirements: Service hours are allocated based on the amount of direct service participation and do not include meeting and transportation to/from service site. Students may receive up to 2.5 hours of service. Please dress appropriately for working outdoors. Sturdy, closed-toed shoes are required. Gloves, hats, long-sleeves, long pants, sun protection are recommended. Bring lunch, snacks, and plenty of water.
The CCE strives to sponsor activities that are accessible to all students. If you need accommodations to fully access the activities offered through the Center for Civic Engagement, please contact Jessica Perone, Community Programs Coordinator, at 509-335-4609 or firstname.lastname@example.org at least one week prior to the activity.
