Welcome to the American Indian Association (AIA) website!

The objective of AIA is to unite those of Indian heritage and to provide a support network for American Indians and to welcome those who want to learn about the indigenous peoples of North America.

AIA has two types of members:

1. Regular Members: Any student currently enrolled at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Regular members have the right to attend all meetings (with the exception of Executive Sessions or Special Meetings). to vote and to hold office and to chair or serve on committees. Regular Members may convert to Associate Member status at the request of the member.

If interested please complete application (under Files) along with $25 and photo ID and submit to:

2. Associate Member: Any UAB faculty and staff or member of the community-at-large who is interested in learning about the heritage and culture of American Indians. Associate members are not eligible to vote or to hold office. Associate Members have the right to attend all open meetings and serve on committees.

Selection Process

If your organization has selective membership, please describe the selection process.

Membership is open to all American Indians and to anyone interested in American Indian Culture and unity.
Regular Members: Any student currently enrolled at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Associate Members: Any UAB faculty and staff or member of the community-at-large who is interested in learning about the heritage and culture of American Indians.
