Alpha Chi is a coeducational academic honor society. Since 1922, its purpose has been to promote academic excellence and exemplary character among college and university students and to honor those who achieve such distinction.

The purpose of Alpha Chi shall be the promotion and recognition of scholarship and of those elements of character which make scholarship effective for good among the students in the academic divisions of colleges and universities in the United States of America and other countries.

Alpha Chi is organized as a non-profit corporation in the state of Texas and is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS).
This is the total number of ACTIVE members (all of which should be UNT students) who participate in activities of the organization. This is NOT the number of students who signed up on an interest list, nor the number of students the organization "governs" (if the organization is a governing body over groups of students or other organizations).

Undergraduate Student Membership.
- Membership shall be restricted to undergraduate students who are of junior or senior standing, provided that a student may qualify for membership at the time of graduation with the baccalaureate degree.
Graduate Student Membership.
- Membership shall be restricted to graduate students who have completed not fewer than fifteen semester hours of graduate credit.
GPA of 3.75 or higher for both Graduate and Undergraduate
Dues - The lifetime national membership fee is $40.
