Business and Corporate Law Society
The Business and Corporate Law Society (BCLS), established in 2012, was founded by students of the University of Miami School of Law to serve as a forum where students, professors, professionals, and alumni could discuss business and corporate law related issues. The BCLS promotes social and academic interaction among Miami Law students interested in the various aspects of business, corporate, and financial law, and encourages the exploration of contemporary issues in these various legal fields. The BCLS will work in parallel with the University of Miami School of Business Administration's Business Law Society and closely with other law school clubs in order to bridge the gap between the inherently intertwined legal and business fields, and to further increase interaction and broaden the reach and scope of the club and its members in terms of networking, job opportunities, and events. Through a variety of student and professional events and programs, BCLS aims to educate it members, raise awareness of opportunities available in the field, and facilitate the development of professional contacts. The Business and Corporate Law Society has three main objectives: 1. To educate its members on recent business and corporate law related issues through club meetings, list-serve emails, and regular interaction amongst club members, professors, alumni, and professionals in the field. 2. To provide a forum where students can network both internally, with other students and professors in both the law and business schools, and externally with alumni and business and corporate law professionals by hosting and providing information on local and national events, conventions, symposiums, and conferences. 3. To help prepare its members for entry into the professional world by integrating the academic and real life aspects of law, hosting and distributing information regarding local and national legal competitions, and providing information regarding internship and job opportunities.
