2017 Alt. Fall Break Application

Thank you for your interest in the 2017 Alternative Fall Break. This years projects are:

1) Addressing Food Insecurity through Community Based Food Systems.

2) Refugee Resettlement Services and the International Rescue Committee: Local Service with an International Impact.

While the exact service activities and physical requirements will be decided as we get closer to fall break for both projects, we expect the following requirements:

  1. Available to attend all service days from beginning to end
  2. Ability to lift 10-30 lbs
  3. Ability to work outside in the sun for extended periods of time.
  4. Ability to stand, bend, or crouch for extended periods of time.
  5. Willing to work as part of a team.
  6. Willing to learn about and interact with people from other cultural backgrounds.

This year's Alt Fall Break schedules will be:

  • Pre-Trip Meetings for Fall Break Service Projects
    • 10/9 3:00 - 4:00pm
      • Taylorsville Campus Student Center, Room TBD, will be announced to all participants through email.
    • 10/16 3:00 - 4:00pm
      • Taylorsville Campus Student Center, Room TBD, will be announced to all participants through email.
  • October 19, 20, 21st - Fall Break
    • Times for service project are not confirmed for all service partners at this time.
    • A typical schedule looks like:
      • Meet at service site 8:45 am
      • Serve 9:00 am - 11:00 am
      • Lunch and reflection 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Note this is a representation of a past schedule and may not apply to this year's projects.
