2016 Alt. Fall Break and Alt. Weekend Application

Thank you for your interest in the 2016 Alternative Fall Break and/or Alternative Weekends. For the first time ever, we will be offering TWO Alternative Fall Break trips and the new Alternative Weekends program !

1) Addressing Food Insecurity with Community Gardens and other community based food systems.

2) Refugee Resettlement Services and the International Rescue Committee: Local Service with an International Impact.

3) Youth Resource Center: Addressing the needs of our communities youth who are experiencing homelessness. (Alt Weekend) FULL

While the exact service activities and physical requirements will be decided as we get closer to fall break for both projects, we expect the following physical requirements:

  1. Available to attend all service days from beginning to end
  2. Ability to lift 10-30 lbs
  3. Ability to work outside in the sun for an extended period of time
  4. Willing to work as part of a team
  5. Willing to learn about and interact with people from other cultural backgrounds.

This year's Alt Fall Break schedules will be:

  • Pre-Trip Meetings for Fall Break Service Projects
    • 9/26 - 4:00 - 6:00pm
      • Taylorsville Campus Student Center, Room "Den 1".
    • 10/3 - 4:00 - 6:00pm
      • Taylorsville Campus Student Center, Room "Den 1".
  • Refugee Services Project
    • 10/13, 10/14, 10/15
      • 9:00am - 12:00pm
  • Community Gardens and Hunger Project
    • 10/13 - 12:00pm - 4:00pm
    • 10/14 - 9:00am - 12:00pm
    • 10/15 - 6:30am - 11:30pm

The New Alternative Weekend project will be: 

  • Saturday, 10/22 (FULL)
  • Saturday, 10/29 (FULL)
