Fruit Picking and Gardening with Backyard Harvest
Backyard Harvest is a nonprofit organization based in Moscow, Idaho that connects low income families, seniors, and individuals with fresh, local produce. Backyard Harvest relies on volunteers who share their backyard bounty and extra fruit to help make sure that everyone in our community has healthy food to eat. Event: Students will assist Backyard Harvest with various fruit gleaning/picking (cherries, plums, apples, pears, and more) as well as gardening tasks including, but not limited to, harvesting, cleaning, weeding, watering, and plot clean up. Students MUST contact Misty Amarena, Executive Director for Backyard Harvest, for more information on tasks and location to participate.
Location: TBD. Locations vary throughout the week. Please contact Misty for more information.
Requirements: Students should wear close-toed shoes and weather appropriate, comfortable clothing that they wouldn't mind getting dirty. Sunscreen, water bottle, and hats are highly recommended.
