Global Music Series: Kaoru Watanabe

Kaoru Watanabe is a New York-based composer and musician who specializes in the Japanese shinobue flutes and taiko drums. His performance combines the physical intensity of Japanese festivals and the esoteric musics of traditional theater with complex improvisational and rhythmic elements of jazz and other musics of the world.

The performance will be followed by a question and answer session with the artist.

Thursday, April 16, 7:30 - 9 p.m.
International Center Commons

The Global Music Series is co-sponsored by the University of Richmond Department of Music and the Office of International Education (OIE).
